I always thought that doing hours of cardio would yield the best results, and it worked……..for a short time. This was when going to the gym became a chore. I would drag myself there to jump on the treadmill, elliptical or bike for hours only to maintain the same exact weight for almost 5 months. Sure I would sweat a small amount after 2 hours, but nothing like 30-45 minutes at the studio. I signed up for the 8 week partner challenge to get a boost and reset my mind about fitness altogether. It began with “What the heck is Macros?” and ended with “this really works.”
What I enjoyed most about this challenge was the personal training with Faith, and weekly photos/accountability check-in’s with Amy. Both these aspects held me accountable for what I was or wasn’t doing. Faith pushed me to adopt more of a HIIT workout style and add weights into my workouts, while ditching the hours on end cardio. Through our weekly updates and her book Amy helped me push through those days when I just didn’t know what to eat and gave me tips on how to add that one item that can help you reach your daily Macro goal.
My biggest tip to anyone completing any of the challenges would be to follow your plan, eat ALL your macros, take your measurements and take pictures. It’s amazing what your body can do when it’s given the proper fuel!
